Phil Spector

murder trial

What went down

Phil Spector went out for a night on the town on February 2, 2003, and now he probably wishes he'd stayed home. After socializing and drinking at various West Los Angeles restaurants, (see them under the pins at the Home Page), he spent some time in the early hours of February 3 at the House of Blues on Sunset Boulevard, Hollywood.

There he met Lana Clarkson, a beautiful tall 40-year old, blond actress whose career had been on the skids. She was working as a hostess at the House of Blues VIP room, and after much convincing, returned with Mr. Spector to his Alhambra mansion.

There, at about 5 a.m. on February 3, Mr. Spector emerged from the house, according to his driver, holding a gun and proclaiming, "I think I killed somebody." After the Alhambra police arrived and subdued Mr. Spector with electric Taser darts, they found Ms Clarkson corpse upright in a chair by the front door. She had been shot in the mouth. Later medical evidence shows that the revolver was in her mouth when it was fired.

During the Spring 2007 trial, the prosecutor's will attempt to show that Mr. Spector shot Ms. Clarkson, when his advances did not go as planned, while Mr. Spector's defense will claim she committed suicide, and maintain, as Mr. Spector did to Esquire magazine, that "she kissed the gun."
